Setting up database mail on SQL 2008 R2

This article will show how to set up database mail on SQL 2008 R2

In SQL, expand Management and click on Configure Database Email

Click Next

Be sure 'Set up' is selected, click Next

Click Yes if you get this dialog

Fill in a Profile Name and click Add.

Fill in the Mail Account info. You'll need your mail admin to help you with the Server Name and port information. Remember that this is the FROM email account, not the two account. Typically this is a dedicated account that is not used by a user.

This page caused me a lot of problem before I figured it out. Carefully... click 'public' and change 'Default Profile' to yes.

Click next.

Click next. All done.

Right click on Database Mail and select Send Test E-Mail.

Fill in your email address and send the mail. Carefully check to be sure you receive the mail.
